    Cat2 Complete Cat Food

    Hi all,

I feed my cat on IAMS. When she stopped being a kitten she only liked the dry food so I carefully researched various brands until I found one within my budget that was complete and proven to be so. Now she's being really fussy with the limited range of flavours offered by IAMS, she only liked the ones with fish but now shes has a little bit than leaves it. She still has no interest in wet food, have tried that. So the other week when I went to get her food they didn't have any fish IAMS. After a careful perusal of the shelves I found thier own make complete food.

Now, I've tried to research it but nothing comes up. Does anybody have any knowledge of complete cat foods apart from IAMS and the other really expensive one (the science plan one, I forget the name)? As in, are they actually complete? Because if I change brands I want to know my cat is getting all she needs in her diet but there is no scientific research available on these new brands that are coming out. Any information appreciated.

I believe Hi Life do a few fish varieties of complete dry food. My cat is pretty fussy with her food but she has happily eaten the chicken version of this brand. Another one I've tried is a brand called Vets kitchen that I got from amazon. One good way of introducing a cat to wet food is to purchase a pack of cat gravy and just add a little into her dry food. Start off with just a teaspoon and gradually increase as she gets used to it then try to introduce a full wet food. I suppose you could also do this with a little juice from a tin of tuna if your cat likes fish. Its not a bad thing for them to eat a predominantly dry diet though as it helps with their teeth. One new product I've just found for my cat that you could try is Webbox Cats Delight lick-e-lix they are small tubes of a 'yoghurty' style treat that may entice your cat. I got them in tesco, a box of 5 sachets for a £1(offer price)they have chicken and fish varieties.

I have the same problem with one of my cats. She only likes IAMS and turns her nose up at the other ones. Although recently hse has been eating the go cat ones which she doesn't scoff down as much but its the best we have had so far on other brands.

If only pets new how much trouble we go to meet their needs lol. My mum always finds it funny shopping for pet food as there are always people looking for the exact brand their pet likes. God forbid if you get it wrong lol. So sweet! XD

The one thing that always makes my heart sink is a 'new improved recipe' label on pet food........always means trouble and some very disgruntled meows!

Thanks for your information, much appreciated. Just to top it all, she didn't like the own brand one and when I finally got the IAMS fish one she used to like she wolfed it down! I've also discovered IAMS wet food and give her a packet as a treat. As a kitten she ate wet food readily but went off it when she became adult, I've noticed she licks all the gravy off and leaves the chunks lol!

Actually I think they have just changed something about the IAMS dry food recently so maybe that's what made her go off it for a bit. Arn't cats funny lol.

This reminds me of my cat, she went off wet food when they 'improved' the recipe of the only brand she'd tolerate when she was...oooh...5? Can't quite remember how old she was but we started feeding her freshly cooked chicken along with her usual dry cat food. These days she eats senior iams dry food with her usual chicken and is coming up to 20 years of age.
