Has anyone been watching The Voice? I watched tonight for the first time as I'm fed up of never knowing what anyone is on about as the only topic of conversation these days amongst my mates is reality shows none of which I watch and quite frankly I want to know what all the fuss is about?!
Cant say I'm any the wiser for having seen it though. Basically I managed to deduce that Will.I.Am is now buying his clothes from whatever charity shop they donated Micheal Jacksons stuff to, Jessie J has morphed into some weird Minnie Mouse/Beetlguise cross breed, Tom Jones is in the early stages of cenial dementia and I'm not sure who the bloke in the waistcoat was but he kept making sex faces whenever the camera panned on him! Anyhoo they apparently are mentoring a group of 'artists' who are nothing like the kareoke acts that are on the 'other' show because this is a serious music show and not a waste of the license fee. A fact I'm as yet not wholly convinced of given the fact I've just watched 4 buskers, a Florence welsh tribute act, a scary bald woman who looks like she's about to spontaneously combust, an electricuted poodle forgetting the words to Severn Nation Army and a really short bloke who was the exact height of Holly Willoughboobies boobies! Hmmmm :/

Over the last several weeks she's been developing eggs and has thus far only produced 1. I've been getting concerned with her, she's still been eating pretty well, digging around in her humid hide so kept telling myself it was only a matter of time before she laid. But as she'd been loosing weight gradually I decided it was time to take her to the vets with concerns about possible egg binding. When she checked Cleo over she remarked about how very healthy she looked despite her problem, how unusual it was for them to see a gecko her age with all her toes intact and that i'd clearly been taking good care of her so that's always a positive. They gave her an injection to try and help her pass the eggs, hopefully i'll see results tomorrow or the day after. When we got her back from the vets she was extremely limp and lethargic, it worried me at first but then had remembered they did give her a relaxant. After an hour or so she was walking around again quite lively, she's now resting in one of her hides.

Hi all..
Anybody got any ideas how to deal with a grumpy chameleon?
When we first got him he was fine with hands being in the viv and would feed from my hands fine.
Recently tho he's been getting progressively worse.

I normally let him out of the viv 1-2 times a week when I'm off and if it's sunny and let him free by the balcony doors when the weather is nice so he can soak up a few rays, which he loves doing.
Getting him out can sometimes be tricky and he'll puff up, hiss, headbutt and he's even started biting.
I thought from regular handling that all animals get accustomed to it?
Today when I got him out to strip down his viv for a good clean he was fine. Found out he finds an open hand threatening, but a pointed finger not so. And he climbed out up my hand and sat on my shoulder for a while. He decided then that was enough and wanted off so put him back where he normally basks for a minute while I finished putting everything back together.
When attempting to return him to the viv tho.. He did his Jackle and Hyde thing and was having non of it, to the point he bit me pretty hard.

Is mood swings common in chameleons?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Would appreciate any help, it's not nice being bitten by a pet when you care about them so much.

Meet Sherlock, my newly arrived male high yellow het tremper albino leo. He's a big ole boy and friendly as you like. Poor thing didn't have the best start in life which has left him minus most of his toe nails, so he's a tad bit clumsy as he lacks grip, but it doesn't seem to affect him in the least and he loves nothing better than to investigate his surroundings! :D

Hi guys, can anyone recommend me a place to get some glass cut for a viv conversion? I've just bought 4 secondhand vivs that turned out to be bigger than expected so I'm going to split them into 8. They came with 4mm safety glass doors that I don't think I can get cut down? So I need some new glass. Recommendations please? :D
For anyone who doesn't know, a vittikins is care wise the same as a bearded dragon but they are slightly smaller. A 4ft viv would be ideal. Looking for a great permanent home for one or both - let me know if you can help in the Cardiff area.

I bought 4 large vivs and a couple of geckos off a private seller recently and took delivery of them yesterday. He admitted that they had received less time and attention recently but none the less they appeared in good health so I wasn't overly concerned. Gave them a good look over on arrival and as expected there was done retained shed on the toes of the male which I removed without problem, I also noticed the beginnings of a sperm plug and managed to remove that also without problem after a short soak. The female however has a slightly watery looking left eye. I have rinsed it out gently and am confident there is no debris or infection present but she also has a slight bump to her left front leg and I am thinking that this is maybe a vitamin deficeincy/early signs of mbd? I have recently just switched to the Repashy superfood calcium plus which is an all in one vitamin and calcium dusting powder for livefood so I am going to dose her up this week and look for signs of improvement. Any thoughts or advice appreciated if you have encountered this before?
Here she is
<a href="http://www.petsandexotics.co.uk/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=858&d=1337162439" title="Name: uploadfromtaptalk1337162432659.jpg

I'll try and get an eye shot later. Her vision does not seem impaired in the eye as she noticed the waxworm I dangled in the bad eyes line of sight. She is quite small also so I shall keep a close eye this week and go from there.

CB = Capitive Bred
CF = Captive Farmed
LTC = Long Term Captive
WC = Wild Caught.

The number after this code (ie 02 / 03 etc) is the year the animal was born.

Therefore CB01 means an animal that was captive bred in the year 2001

So one of the common questions that comes up for new comers to the hobby is:

What do CB, CF, WC and LTC mean?

With that in mind I decided to put a little page together explaining the terms, so without further ado:

CB Captive bred

CB is short for captive bred. This means a specimen has been bred and raised in captivity. Whenever possible you should always buy CB animals for a number of reasons. Most importantly, if you are buying CB specimens you are not depleting animals from the wild. Second to this is that captive bred animals tend to have far fewer problems associated with them. They are usually parasite free, feed more readily and generally just produce less headaches for the owner.

CF Captive farmed

Captive farmed (CF) reptiles are somewhere between captive bred and wild caught. Whilst captive farmed means a few different things in reptiles, more often than not it involves pregnant individuals or eggs being collected from the wild and the young farmed, before the adults being released (in the case of pregnant females being harvested). Captive farming isn't ideal as it does deplete natural stocks of reptiles, however it is arguably much better than wild caught individuals. CF animals tend to adapt to captivity much better than wild caught animals, however they do carry a risk of parasites and care needs to be taken when acquiring them (ie quarantining is essential with CF animals).
When buying a CF animal it is important to aquire feeding records if you can as feeding in captivity can some times be problematic with CF animals. This is particularly true for royal pythons.

WC Wild caught

Wild caught reptiles are the least desirable option, however oftentimes they are the only option. These are animals which have been collected from wild populations and imported in to the pet trade. These reptiles may carry parasites, adapt poorly to captivity (causing problems with feeding, etc) and can generally be problematic. That said, some WC animals do cope well with captivity. Invertebrates such as tarantulas and scorpions often do well as WC individuals in captivity. In fact, a large proportion of the adult tarantulas and scorpions sold in the hobby are WC.
When buying WC reptiles quarantining them is essential in order to prevent parasites and infections spreading to the rest of your collection.
As a final note on WC, if it is an option you have a duty as a responsible keeper to avoid buying wild caught specimens. However I acknowledge that sometimes they must be purchased and can carry some benefits (ie introducing new genetics in to tired captive bred lines).

LTC Long term captive

Long term captive is a tricky term to define, most people have their own definition of it. In short, it means a wild caught animal which has been in captivity long enough to have adapted to it and therefore carry few/none of the problems normally associated with WC reptiles. Many breeders use the 6month mark to decide when a reptile stops being WC and starts being LTC. Personally however I think a year is a better option. When purchasing LTC specimens always try to get a feeding record where available and make sure to check the animal over for any signs of parasitic infections etc.
